Note: With The Metal leading 5-0, Jeff Ponder and Ryan McArthy (both members of SRH) got into a slap fight on the bench.  As gay as it looked, SRH did come back to win this game in dramatic fashion.

Grudge Match IV followed this format:

    • SRH is the “Home” team.  They’ll wear their red SRH jerseys and take the “Home” bench.  I will bring an extra red SRH jersey for Nate Horstmann.
    • The Metal are the “Visiting” team.  They’ll wear their grey Metal jerseys and take the “Visitors” bench.
    • There will be two forty minute games which are not broken into periods.  If one team wins both games, the series is over.
    • If the first two games are split, there will be a ten minute mini-game three to break the tie and decide the series.  This mini game is not sudden death.
    • Any game that ends in a tie will go directly to a shoot out.
    • Each team will warm up in the zone nearest their bench.
    • Each team will attack the net furthest from their bench in the first and third games.
    • Each team will attack the net closest to their bench in the second game.
    • There will be a running clock except for the last minute of one goal or tied games.
    • Each team is allowed one sixty second timeout per game.
    • Goals and assists will be recorded (if you score, be sure to tell the score keeper your first and last name and let them know who gave you the puck).
    • No more than one assist will be credited on any goal.
    • The whistle WILL be blown when the puck touches the netting above the high glass behind each net.
    • Every player (including goalies) will owe $9.  Please bring exactly $9 in cash!
    • Please stick around when the series is over!  All players and spectators are invited to drink cheap beer and have snacks at the bar above the bleachers!
    • Mason, please choose another alternate for your forwards and let me know who you choose ASAP!

Disclaimer: There WILL be a referee, and because this is a friendly exhibition, there will be ABSOLUTELY NO BACKTALKING, OR OTHER ABUSE OF THE REFEREE tolerated.  It doesn't matter if you think you just witnessed the worst call in the history of hockey; keep your mouth shut and do as the referee asks.  He will be instructed to call everything (although he is human and may miss a call here or there) and to have a quick trigger if people jump all over him.  If you get thrown out of a game, your team cannot replace you for the remainder of the evening and you will not get a refund.  The referee will be working during his normal off time, so he'll be helping us out.  If you cannot be civil with the referee or the other players for the evening, do not play.  This goes for both teams.

Grudge Match II:

Date: Sunday, September 30th

Time: 10:30PM until about Midnight

Place: Midwest Sport Hockey in Queeny Park - 570 Weidman Road, Ballwin MO, 63011

SRH Roster: Steve Edler, Steve Fogle, Nate Hendin, Jason Miller, Joe Miller, Mason Mocabee, Brian Soule, Mike Teasdale, Goalie: Jon Henry

Body Snatchers Roster: Joe Albright, Jake Grundhauser, Mike Hogan, Kevin Lenz, Ryan McArthy, Scott McGillicuddy, Jeff Ponder, Justin Wilson, Goalie: Scott Kincaid

If you are not on the above list, you can still earn a night played by showing up and watching or keeping score.  I'm not going to say exactly how long you have to be there to get credit, but please don't expect credit if you show up and watch for a few minutes and leave again.  This offer is only for people who are currently on the SRH call list.  If you are playing in the Grudge Match you will get credit for a night played if you are on the list.  This even goes for people playing for the Body Snatchers currently on the call list.  The players would love it if you showed up to root them on.  Also, feel free to bring your equipment, you could have a chance to fill in for SRH (if you are on the call list) if someone fails to show or gets injured.  Fill-ins may not go in exactly the same order as the call list.

Grudge Match II will follow this format:

  • Two forty minute games which are not broken into periods
  • Sunday Roller Hockey will be the home (white) team and will dress in the room located behind the home bench (this is the room immediately inside the locker room door)
  • The Body Snatchers will be the visiting (dark) team and will dress in the room located behind the visitors' bench
  • Each team will warm up in the zone nearest their bench
  • In game number one, each team will attack the net which is nearest their bench
  • In game number two, each team will attack the net which is the furthest from their bench
  • Running clock except for the last minute of one goal games
  • Each team is allowed one sixty second timeout per game
  • Games can end in a tie, there will be no overtime or shootouts
  • Goals and assists will be recorded (if you score, be sure to tell the score keeper your first and last name and let them know who gave you the puck)
  • No more than one assist will be credited on any goal
  • Each person (including the goalies) who plays in the Grudge Match will owe $9 to Jason Miller at the end of the night.  Please try to bring exact change.  You can pay with a credit/debit card, but if you choose to pay with this method, you must pay immediately when you arrive and let Jason know you have done so.  We need $125 for the rink time and $30 for the referee.  This will leave us with an extra $7.  Any ideas what we should do with the last $7?

Disclaimer: There WILL be a referee, and because this is a friendly exhibition, there will be ABSOLUTELY NO BACKTALKING, OR OTHER ABUSE OF THE REFEREE tolerated.  It doesn't matter if you think you just witnessed the worst call in the history of hockey; keep your mouth shut and do as the referee asks.  He will be instructed to call everything (although he is human and may miss a call here or there) and to have a quick trigger if people jump all over him.  If you get thrown out of a game, your team cannot replace you for the remainder of the evening.  The referee will be working a late night after reffing a bunch of other games, so he'll be helping us out.  If you cannot be civil with the referee or the other players for the evening, do not play.  This goes for both teams.
